Black and shiny top of the salamanders' body is covered with yellow and orange spots or strips. There are not  two individuals with the same configuration and shape of patches.
Because of the quite strong venom, deterring pigmentation, and also the night way of life, the salamander hasn't got many enemies. Human is the main threat for them.
