Old name of this part of Gdansk is Letnica (Lewen Thal, Lowenthal, Lówenthal, German Lauenthal); today commonly Letniewo. It is industrial district located by the west side of the Martwa Vistula. It borders with Mlynisko district from the south, and with Brzezno and Wrzeszcz - from the west.

International Street & Open-Air Festival FETA is one of the biggest of its kind in Central - Eastern Europe. It has been organized since 1997. Within six years, almost 120 theatres from over twenty countries from five continents were guests to Gdansk Festival.
