A Memory March took place in Gdańsk on Tuesday, April 13. The March was planned to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of Katyn Crime. It was also supposed to be a silent march right from the start. It developed into a march of memory and tribute to those, who died in catastrophe near Smolensk.

 

Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz said during Holy Mass in Wawel Cathedral that the day in which the tragedy had happened, was the new, painful chart in the history of Polish nation.

According to police - hundreds of thousands inhabitants of Warsaw have gathered along the route from Warsaw Airport. The plane carrying President Kaczynski's body landed in Warsaw at 3 p.m. Due to the military protocol, there had been conducted a ceremony, gathering both president's family and cleric and state officials. Church and state officials payed the tribute to Mr. President.

Condolence Books have been opened in galleries of Presidential Palace in Warsaw. They are available for everybody who wants to make an entry. Many Books of Condolence have also been opened in other cities - in Poland as well as around the world.
